Therapy Style.....

You can expect at the first intake appointment, that my focus will be on completing a thorough assessment.  This allows me to have a strong awareness of your needs.  And then I gear the counseling process to best address each person's individual issues.  I do utilize general information and frameworks that help to organize information; but my passion is to thoughtfully find ways that make the information relevant, focusing on solutions that  that truly fit each person.

I am thematic in my approach, and work to assist you to move out of patterns that have been or have become less useful to your life/your goals.  It may seem impossible that merely sitting down and talking about issues (whether individually or as a couple or family) can lead to a new creative way to deal with the complexities in life --- but it truly matters how you think about things, as this influences your feelings and your behaviors.  And this can lead to trying new behaviors, which influence both thoughts and feelings.  The result is to prompt change, allowing you to maximize you or your potential.  I also believe knowing a person's strengths and recognizing the power of resiliency, are crucial to the counseling process.

Quotes that I think reflect the process of therapy:

Like an ability or a muscle, hearing your inner wisdom is strengthened by doing it.
       ~Robbie Glass

We are what we think.  All that we are arises with our thoughts.  With our thoughts, we make the world.
      ~Buddha

We don't receive wisdom; we must discover it for ourselves after a journey that no one can take for us or spare us.
        ~Marcel Proust
